Sarah Laurie Johnson is an American artist, educator, content creator, and marketing professional based in Seattle, Washington. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she has also lived in several places including in Dayton, New York City, Paris, and Tacoma.

As a mixed media artist, her work spans across many different traditional fine art techniques and mediums: painting (oil, acrylic, gouache, and watercolor), oil pastels, charcoal, graphite, and ink drawings, printmaking: (lithography, linocut, screen, and wood block printing), and she has also experimented with textile designs (rug making, functional knitting, screen printed clothing). In addition to being a mixed media artist, she is a skilled multimedia artist as well. Since she was in middle school, Sarah has enjoyed creating short and long-form video content for social media across all platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and X. In addition to videography, photography is also an important piece of her creative process, as photos often serve as references or inspiration for her paintings. As much as she loves to paint off of direct experiences en plein air, she likes the ability to plan and change the captured image in her preferred medium.

In May of 2019, she received a B.A. in Art History, French Language & Literature, with an Interdisciplinary Humanities Emphasis on Visual Culture from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. During her time as a student, she took many studio arts classes in addition to her double degree to enhance and expand her skills as an artist, while also holding part-time positions in galleries and museums. In her third year at UPS, Sarah studied abroad in Paris, studying Art History, French Language & Literature, Museums, as well as Oil Painting at the Atelier de la Villa Bastille with esteemed French artist Patrick Fouilhoux. A major focus of her undergraduate studies was devoted to exposing the deeply-rooted patriarchal ways of life during the Middle Ages, and re-thinking the erasure of female artists at that time. Her final theses were written on the medieval Tapisserie de Bayeux and Charles Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du Mal (the 1947 edition illustrated by Henri Matisse).

After finishing her studies at UPS, Sarah Interned at the Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Museum for Puget Sound Energy, where she was the lead tour guide and educator for the park, museum, and inside the hydroelectric cavity. Upon finishing that internship, Sarah worked as an Art Instructor for the Tacoma YMCA teaching visual arts classes to students of all ages, as well as a Painting Instructor for events and classes at Uncorked Canvas. She enjoyed these two part-time positions up until Covid happened in 2020. During lockdown, she used her time to build this website and her online presence within the Seattle art community. Learning how to market her own art during the Covid lockdown was the start of her interest in having a professional marketing career in social media management, community engagement, and content creation. She has held several educational positions since then, but has found deep meaning in her work as a digital marketing specialist, social media manager, and content creator.
